y life was transformed by a Scripture Union holiday,’ says Rachel. ‘I knew about Christianity, but never made a personal commitment to Jesus. At my first Scripture Union holiday, a powerful talk on Jesus’ crucifixion hit me hard. The Spirit was really moving and I was compelled to pray with someone and accept Jesus into my life. I’ve been really helped in my walk with God by going on a Scripture Union holiday every year.’
Every summer, around 3,000 children and young people have the opportunity to meet with Jesus and read his Word, as well as have fun and make friends on a Scripture Union holiday.
Here are just a couple of the hundreds of grateful letters and emails we get every year telling us of children and young people’s lives profoundly changed by meeting Jesus:
‘Thank you so much to you and all your team for a really great week at Scripture Union for Lucy. She has come back full of tales about all the exciting things you all did and has vowed to read the Bible. We really appreciate your hard work.’
‘It was the best week of my life. Having fun, making new friends and finding myself being drawn closer to God every day.’
Providing this annual Holiday Programme all over England and Wales costs us around £160,000 a year to run. Vital money left to us in Legacies by our kind supporters means that we have been able to keep running these impactful holidays for many decades. We pray that this valuable source of funds will keep coming in for us so we can keep reaching the future generations of children and young people with God’s Word and his love.
