Once you have made provision for your loved ones, you have the opportunity to give back to the Lord through leaving a legacy to His church or to a Christian charity.

Here are some reasons for leaving a legacy gift to your favourite causes:

It’s continuing God’s work after you’ve gone, helping those causes closest to your heart.
Legacies account for a large proportion of their income for many charities. Without legacies, some Christian charities simply could not do what they do. Legacies help charities to develop new projects and initiatives.

Legacies demonstrate good stewardship.
By leaving a legacy you are being a good steward of what God has given. See the parable of the talents Matthew 25:14-30.

Legacies can be a way of giving more than you ever could in your lifetime.
Many of us have a great deal of equity tied up in our home, for example, which cannot be accessed until our death.

A way of giving thanks to God.
In thanking God for what he has done by leaving a legacy, you will be blessing others in countless different ways.

It’s tax efficient.
Any amount given to charity is currently free from inheritance tax. Instead of some of your estate going to the government, you can offset this by leaving a legacy gift. Find out more here.

Grace and her husband made mirror wills many years ago. They said it was a practical and sensible decision because so many fail to make a will, then there's trouble.
Grace and her husband included Christian charities as an obvious continuum for those charities supported for more than 44 years.
Grace was heartbroken when her husband died in 1998. So much in life changed. She moved into a retirement flat but felt very alone and later moved to the Norfolk coast.
Grace wrote to assure us that she would continue to remember her Christian charities in her will which she had chosen with her husband.
Grace died in Autumn 2004 and left behind substantial legacies to her favourite Christian charities. Not only was she Grace in name but gracious in nature.
